Surgery clinics

We offer a range of clinics and services at the surgery. There are some tasks you can do, such as health reviews, using our online forms.

High blood pressure (hypertension)

Guidelines now recommend that patients suffering from hypertension should have an annual review which will include a blood pressure check and a routine fasting blood test including cholesterol check. A further blood pressure check six months later is also recommended.

Cervical cytology – Well Woman clinic

You will be invited regularly for a cervical smear test. Recent changes introduced nationally mean that your first letter of invitation and your first reminder letter (if you fail to make an appointment) will be sent by Gloucestershire Health Authority.

If a smear is performed the path lab will inform you of the result of your test.

Diabetic clinic

The diabetic clinic is run by Dr Richard Waldon, Dr Geraint Davies and practice nurse Chloe Andrews, every Thursday between 2pm and 4.30pm.

The aim of diabetic care is to keep you in good health by controlling your diabetes so enabling you to lead a full and active life.

Should you require further information about the management of diabetes please ask at reception for our patient information leaflet.

Please make an appointment in October each year for your influenza vaccination.

Asthma clinic

Our practice nurses, are specially trained to advise you about the management of asthma and chronic obstructive airways disease.

National guidelines recommend that your condition should be reviewed once a year.

Asthma clinics are run every Wednesday & Friday afternoons between 1.30pm and 5.30pm.

If these times as not convenient contact the surgery and ask for an alternative appointment.

The practice nurses can help with things like checking inhaler technique, checking that you are on the correct medication, measuring lung function etc and with this advice we would hope that your asthma would be better controlled and cause you less problems in the future. They will also recommend when you should next be reviewed.

When you attend the clinic please bring all your medications with you.

Could we also remind you that people who suffer from asthma may be eligible for an annual influenza vaccination. Please contact the receptionist at the start of October.
